HISTORY
Last year's event was planned as a small invitational demonstration of the Roll Off Slash Bins and Log Bunks with the Cambium RFID system. By the day of the event, the list of both attendees and demonstrators had grown to about 100 people. Because of the strong interest, we decided to continue the event. Special thanks to the USFS Southern Research Station for funding this event!
WORKSHOP FEATURES
- Welcome by Bob Rummer of the USFS Southern Station
- Round Robin presentations by each exhibitor
- Tech and Equipment demonstrations
- Complimentary Lunch
- Presentation topics: Forest Equipment, Forest Business Practices, Forest Software and Computer Devices
This year's event will be held at Fort Missoula in conjunction with Forestry Days at the Fort, which includes the Pro/Am Logging show and hosting the Association of Western Forestry Clubs, aka Conclave (AWFC).
The Annual Forestry Day is held in conjunction with The University of Montana Woodsman Team and the Montana Society of American Foresters. The day includes collegiate lumberjack competitions, including crosscut sawing, pole climbing, wood chopping, axe throwing and log rolling. Attendees are also encouraged to take in an impressive array of historic forestry and logging equipment, operating steam-powered sawmill, restored fire lookout tower, hands-on opportunities for all, displays of crafts and venders. Food will be available from The University of Montana’s Woodsman Team.
