Title: Managing Director
Location: Enterprise, Oregon
Reports to: WR CSI President

Overview
Community Solutions is the for-profit subsidiary of Wallowa Resources. It provides capital, business services and technical support to create and support businesses that generate benefits to the community and the environment. Community Solutions participates in opportunities that generate family wage jobs, productive lands and sustainable natural resources. Community Solutions operates through four primary strategies:
  Assess community entrepreneurial and business opportunities.
  Provide business services for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  Act as an entrepreneur or partner.
  Manage public assets as opportunities become available.

Wallowa Resources is a local non-profit organization in northeast Oregon whose mission is to develop, promote, and implement innovative solutions to help the people of Wallowa County and the Intermountain West sustain and improve their communities and their lands.

Program Responsibilities
The Manager will provide leadership and critical support to Community Solutions Inc. in the development, implementation and management of various income generating programs and businesses. This support should result in sufficient income to cover the costs of this staff position, but also contribute to the overall profitability of Community Solutions Inc.

Provide business development expertise:
1) Identify and analyze new business development ventures relevant to Community Solutions Inc. mission.
2) Articulates and facilitates the vision and mission of Community Solutions Inc. by identifying and analyzing critical business partnerships, and conditions for such partnerships, that will be important to the success of business investments by Community Solutions. This would include providing recommendations on business venture priorities for Community Solutions, including business investments and programs.
3) Provide support in the development and implementation of business plans relevant to Community Solutions investments and income generating programs.
4) Establish and manage external business relationships relevant to Community Solutions investments and income generating programs.
5) Oversee the development of a comprehensive fund development plan including providing grant writing services.
6) Oversee the fiscal planning, financial management and reporting.
7) Oversee day-to-day operations including program development and assessment.
8) Develop and cultivate partnerships and collaborative relationships.

The Managers management and networking responsibilities include:
1) Effective communication and cooperation with Community Solutions Board, as well as Wallowa Resources staff and partners.
2) Contributions to fundraising by identifying sources of support, writing proposals, visiting with existing and potential donors and clients, writing reports and communicating with supporters and Board members.
3) Providing input and participation in local and regional activities of Community Solutions.
4) Ensures compliance with private, state and federal grant guidelines.
5) Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Five years of business development experience.
Bachelors degree.
Demonstrated experience in assembling financial packaging for rural economic development projects is preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to the goals of rural economic development.
Experience in project management, planning, fundraising, grant writing, budgeting and financial management is desirable.
Familiarity with public and private sources of financing and funding.
Excellent computer skills.
