Description
Hayward, WI 11-12-08
Great Lakes Renewable Energy, Inc. ( GLRE) has announced its new wood pellet plant is up and running in Hayward, WI. The plant was constructed in record time under the supervision and watchful eye of Herb Seeger , General Manager of Great Lakes Renewable Energy.

Construction Management LLC http://www.constructionmanagementllc.com/ designed the plant and Rawlings Industrial Inc. www.rawlingsindustrial.com constructed it.

The owners , Rich & Lori Good, Mike & Connie Severson and Terry & Barb Priem are very proud of their creation and what a creation it is.

The plant comes online when the regions demand for wood pellets is at an all time high. The explosive market for alternative energy has caught many suppliers of wood pellets off guard this year. Some dealers in Michigan reported calling as far away as Wyoming and were told the producers were sold out for the season.

GLREs plant is designed to produce up to 83,000 tons of the precious wood pellets per year. The plant is a new state of the art plant boasting design attributes not found in other manufacturing wood pellet facilities. The entire plant is computer monitored through miles of sensing wire, which tells the operator every aspect of the production process. One quick look at the computer screen can tell you the flow rate, temperature and volume of the raw material input to the finished product output. This plant is the pride of the wood pellet industry designed to produce a consistent reliable product 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The product formula was tested in Germany using actual Wisconsin tree fiber and incorporated into the equipment design for density, fiber flowability, moisture and compression success. This most important detail assures the customers the utmost in product reliability because the plant is designed to run on specific raw material attributes lessening the problematic pellet quality deviations. The plant has its own de-barker and chipper operation built into the production process. The plant doesnt have to rely on all outside suppliers of raw materials. The owners of the plant are certified Wisconsin master loggers and have their own material sources for the assurance of a steady supply of raw materials. One of the biggest drawbacks to other wood pellet plants is the reliance on sawdust producers for materials, if the housing industry dips the sawmills, cabinet shops and construction board producers waste products diminish. By controlling our own raw materials we eliminate one of the biggest problems facing the typical wood pellet operation.

The plant begins its production with signed agreements with over 100 dealers throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and as far away as New York and Ohio. The plant although sold out of production this year was designed for expansion to 160,000 tons per year by adding very little additional equipment. The plant is designed to manufacture both wood pellets and fibrous dairy farm bedding materials. The fibrous animal bedding is unique in that the grinding process opens all the fibers of the wood and the additional drying technique assures a much superior absorption product then typical shavings.

This plant will have a considerable effect on the economy. It will attract not only a large plant operator force it will establish much needed revenue to unused forest owners, over 3,700 local trucking jobs, 100 dealers supplying products requiring added employees and an enormous local consumable trade in such things as 60,000 locally made wood pallets. The plant will consume over 4 million bags, 60,000 covers and 60,000 cardboard sheets. Each dealer will provide additional employment in the region, loading equipment, delivery vehicles, display rooms and enhance their wood pellet appliance business sales. All good for the regions economy.

The plant leaves a very small carbon footprint in that it is designed away from using any fossil fuel. The entire operation is self-supporting in combustion. The plant uses carbon neutral biomass for fuel and virtually little to no water resources. The plant emits harmless steam as a byproduct and has a state of the art particulate control system to eliminate any airborne combustion by products from entering the atmosphere. The plant is truly a green plant producing green fuel for todays consumer.

The plant doesn't export its resources to foreign countries and is locally owned and operated. The economy generated here stays here. The plant was even financed locally by a strong visionary bank, The plant can produce enough heat to heat over 30,000 homes and save America the importing of over 10 million gallons of oil.

Our state and our country wins with this industry.
